Bayeux and its famous tapestry

Impressive tapestry approximately 70m in length!

Of course, all great cities have an impressive cathedral as well. This one is old, from the 11th century.

We also visited the Museum of the Battle of Normandy.

And paid our respects to the fallen soldiers at the British cemetery with around 4,600 graves.

Chartres

On our way to Chartres, our first stop of our summer holidays.

First, a quick stop for lunch in Auxerre, and to admire the cathedral.

Joan of Arc also stopped here for mass in 1429.

Pretty streets and an astrological clock tower. 

Made it to our accommodation in Chartres, very comfortable.

Amazing cathedral from the 12th century. 

We were lucky to catch a light show on the cathedral.

 

After a hearty breakfast, we strolled around Chartres and continued our journey.
